Visit the world famous Cape Point!
Leaving the city behind, we travel South along the coastline to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. The Peninsula has the open Atlantic on the Western side and is protecting False Bay from the stormy ocean, on its Eastern side. Along the way there are opportunities to visit a seal colony as well as an African penguin colony. The Cape of Good Hope is the most South-Westerly point of Africa and the meeting place of two great ocean currents. Part of the Cape Point Tour is a visit to the old light house, built in 1860, right at the top of the cliffs which has brought a beacon of light to sailors for many years, until the new lighthouse, much closer to the sea, took over the duties.
A first class restaurant at Cape Point, called Two Oceans, serves fine cuisine while you look out over False Bay. During the winter months you stand a good chance of spotting some southern right whales playing in the bay. These gentle giants visit our shores from July to October to calve in our warmer waters. The penguin colony is always a hit with visitors young and old.
On the tour you’ll find opportunities for stunning photos, hikes, or even to have a swim with penguins, so pack your hat, sunscreen, walking shoes, camera and swimming gear for this tour.
